When Omar Wallace is given the chance to win a college scholarship through a breakdancing competition, he has to overcome the challenges of inner city life to succeed.

Omar Wallace, an African American high school senior, is faced with making some important decisions.  While he would rather hang out with his b-boy crew after school and breakdance, he is under pressure to work harder at school so he has a chance at getting a college scholarship.

Omar, who is called O by his friends, is one of the best b-boys in the Los Angeles area.  Any time he and his friends get together they are breaking.  While O and his friends are clubbing on a Friday night, they receive a flyer that announces a b-boy competition with a full ride scholarship funded by rap star MC Mac to attend Bowman State as the grand prize.  O is sure this is his chance.

O dedicates himself to practicing for the competition.  When he’s not working at the corner store or at school, O is perfecting his moves.  Yet things don’t go as O expects when he discovers that his best friend, P.A.T., is dealing drugs, and his girlfriend, Katrina, reveals that she is pregnant.

Not wanting to end up like his father, O breaks off his relationship with Katrina, and his friendship with P.A.T.  Everything that appeared so perfect has fallen apart for O.  It’s only after his boss, Mr. Jackson, points out that O has some short comings too that O realizes that he can’t run from his problems but has to face them head on.
